It is possible to become hardier: more committed, in control and open to challenge, provided we follow three paths. These techniques are available to help one become happier, healthier and hardier and they are, Focusing, Restructuring Stressful situation, Compensating through Self-Improvement..

Col. Gautam said Commitment, Control and Challenge are 3 C ingredients of what we call psychological hardiness. Hardy people should be able to face changes with confidence and self-determination and the eagerness of seeing change as an opportunity. In contrast, a less hardy person can feel alienated, threatened, or helpless in the face of any major challenge to the status quo.

Social support, exercise and strong constitution can also help. But hardiness or lack of it can change the way people use these other resources.

The differences between "competition" and "conflict" "Competition" usually brings out the best in people, as they strive to be top in their field, whether in sport, community affairs, politics or work.
